FIRST LEGO League

Where every one of us started

FIRST LEGO League is the first rung: LEGO robots, an innovation project, and Core Values judged as seriously as the score. Our FLL teams have grown from a rookie team called “Hello World” to representing Australia at the World Championship in Houston.

Story

100 wishes

In November 2023 the team wrote down a list of 100 wishes. One of them was to represent Australia at the FLL World Championship. At the time it felt very far away. In May 2026 they were standing in Houston.

Story

“Dream is an artifact”

During the MASTERPIECE season the students designed an Australian Masterpiece badge celebrating respect, culture, creativity and community, and set a goal: bring 1,000 of them to Houston. In the UNEARTHED season they realised their 30-month-old dream was itself an artifact — a treasured idea that kept them moving forward. In Houston the badges went from hand to hand across the pits.

Story

Hello World → Just Try → While True

Our team names tell the story. Hello World: the curiosity and courage to start. Just Try: persistence and resilience when the robot misbehaves. While True: continuous exploration and lifelong learning. The Core Values mosaic in the photo was built brick by brick by the team.
